2. Hotwire Technology

What materials can be cut with a hotwire?

Primarily Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) and Extruded Polystyrene (XPS).

What is the warranty for hotwire cutters?

We offer a complete 5-year warranty on all hotwire foam cutters. This is unheard of in this industry and it confirms our confidence in the machines we manufacture.

Can I cut 3D shapes?

Yes, using options like the TurnTable, Lathe, ShapeWire Bar, or Independent Axis feature.

What happens if the wire breaks?

The machine stops immediately, allowing you to replace the wire and resume from the exact break point.

What is the maximum cutting speed for XPS?

While it depends on the density, standard speeds range from 200 to 300 mm/min for high-quality finishes in XPS. Standard white EPS foam can be typically cut 2-3 times faster than XPS.

Does the machine require a specialized ventilation system?

While cutting EPS/XPS is relatively clean, we recommend a well-ventilated room to manage any minor off-gassing.

What is the difference between TitaniumWire and NiCr wire?

Our proprietary TitaniumWire is significantly stronger and more resistant to stretching, allowing for higher tension and faster cutting.

Can I use multiple wires at once?

Yes, many of our models support multi-wire setups for mass-producing simple shapes like sheets or moldings. Up to 35 wires per axis are possible.

Is the wire temperature adjustable?

Yes, the temperature is fully controlled via our software to match different foam densities and cutting speeds.

Does the machine automatically adjust wire tension?

Yes, many of our professional models include pneumatic or our unique electrical wire tensioning systems to keep the wire taut during heating.

Can I cut tapered columns?

Yes, using the Independent Axis feature, you can move the left and right sides of the wire independently.

What is the maximum temperature the hotwire can reach?

The wire can be heated to over 300 °C to effectively melt polystyrene.

How much maintenance do hotwire machines require?

They require almost no maintenance beyond basic cleaning and monthly lubrication of bearings.

What is the primary consumable for these machines?

The only consumable is the actual cutting wire; we provide a 100-gram spool with each machine that lasts for months or years.

What is the difference between EPS and XPS?

EPS is standard white expanded foam often in large blocks, while XPS is extruded and comes in various colored sheets.

How often should I adjust the wire tension?

Our automated systems handle this, keeping the wire taut during heating.

What electrical power supply is needed?

Standard requirements vary by model, but we design them to be compatible with standard industrial power.

Can I cut graphite-added EPS?

Yes, gray EPS with graphite additives is easily cut with our hotwire machines.

Can I cut soft foams with hotwire?

While some soft foams can be cut, we only officially recommend EPS and XPS due to off-gassing concerns with other materials.

3. Fastwire (Abrasive) Technology

How does it differ from hotwire?

Fastwire uses a high-speed abrasive loop (not heated) to cut materials like stone wool, PU foam, and PIR/ISO.

Does it create dust?

Yes, this is a "dusty" technology. We recommend integrated vacuum systems or dust collection units.

What is the maximum speed of a fastwire machine?

It can reach up to 5 meters per minute, depending on the material density.

How long does a fastwire loop last?

Depending on the material (e.g., stone wool vs. soft PU), a wire can last anywhere from several hours to several days or even weeks of continuous use.

Can a fastwire cut EPS?

Yes, and it is often faster than hotwire, though it produces dust and a slightly rougher finish.

Is the wire dangerous to touch while running?

Yes, the wire travels at 200 km/h; machines can be equipped with safety sensors, guards, e-curtains or complete enclosures to prevent accidental contact.

How do I know when to replace the wire wheels?

Our manuals provide maintenance schedules, but generally, wheels should be inspected every 6-12 months for wear.

Can it cut rigid Foamglas?

Yes, the abrasive wire is specifically designed for hard, abrasive materials like Foamglas.

Does the machine come with a dust extraction unit?

We offer optional high-capacity dust extraction systems tailored to our fastwire machines.

What is the kerf for your abrasive wires?

The kerf is typically in the 1-2 mm range, using wires between 0.8 mm and 1.6 mm.

What materials can fastwire machines cut?

They cut PU/PUR foam, PIR/ISO foam, stone wool, glass wool, polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (EPP), and more.

Is the fastwire technology suitable for precise contouring?

Yes, the XTR series is designed for precise tasks like cutting pipe sections in rockwool.

Can I cut moist foam blocks?

Yes, fastwire machines are a great choice for moist or unseasoned foam blocks that are difficult for hotwire.

How do I test the cutting quality on my specific material?

We offer free test cuts in our showroom so you can see the results before purchasing.

What is the lifespan of the wire wheels?

With proper maintenance, wheels usually only need replacement after 6-12 months of use.
